The contents of the new UE guideline named Accessibility Act is: define the criteria of accessibility for products and services.
The European Union, according to Superabile (INAIL newspaper), is analyzing a proposal for new guidelines named Accessibility Act, that should define the accessibility criteria for products and services that are considered essential for the full participation of people with “functional limitations” in the society. The objective is to standardize such criteria in all European Countries.
In the service list we find: bancomat desks, bank services, personal computers, telephones, tv sets, telephone and audio services, transportation, e-book and electronic commerce. As for the beneficiaries, they are not only people with disabilities, but persons with general functional limitations, such as seniors or people with temporary problems. This could become a leading discussion within the EU with important social and economical impacts.
